Goat Livestock/Meat and Milk


Boer Goat or more popularly termed as Kambing Boer in Malaysia is tipped to become a backbone in the goat farming activity and plays an important role in driving the agriculture sector. Boer originating from the African region and is said to be mixed of European, Angora and Indian. Boer breeding is normally aimed at the production of meat rather that its milk, and its meat is arguably the most well known of all the goat meats in the world today. Boer has low calorie and cholesterol, but rich in protein and it relatively high immunity towards diseases.
Jamnapari is another type of goat which is famous in Malaysia. Jamnapari is originated from the frontier of India and Pakistan. Jamnapari is famous with its large and graceful body. Male Jamnapari is weighted up to 120kg while the female is up to 90kg. Opposite from Boer breeding, Jamnapari breeding is normally aimed at the production of milk although its meat also good. Jamnapari has high reproduction rate and suitable for tropical weather. It means that Jamnapari is less prone to sickness in tropical countries like Malaysia.
